For five years, the faithful of Sandpoint had attended church in temporary structures erected after fire destroyed the previous temple, and while their new religious leader was helpful, kind, and wise, church wasn’t the same. Now, the new cathedral was finally done. All that remained was for the Swallowtail Festival to renew the site’s blessings from the gods and it would be as if the Sandpoint Fire had never occurred.
Everyone from miles around assembled in Sandpoint to attend a ritual to consecrate the town’s new cathedral. A group of heroes: Amerasu, a human rogue, Bolizar, a human cleric, Lorath, an elven ranger, Sir Orion, a half-elf paladin of Sakata Ganymos, Ryder, a human sorcerer and Sayuri, a human Goji Monk, despite not knowing each other, quickly banded together and ended up defending the town from a goblin raid.
- "September 23, 1137: Interesting day here in this small and normally quiet town of Sandpoint... today's Festival was interrupted by a goblin attack. This was not the typical wee-hour sneakiness expected of goblins, they came in numbers and with inspired aggression today. They caused a great deal of chaos and scared the townsfolk in their weak attempt to raid the town. Those little beasts don’t really put up a fight but in large numbers can really be menacing. A little damage was done to some structures and to the townsfolk's nerves, but the attack was halted swiftly...
- "I was particularly delighted that some of the townsfolk rise to the occasion to defend the town. It's certainly nice to see some goodwill and care for one another can be found here in Sandpoint...
- "I'm growing more fond of this place as time goes on. Also, a fellow named Lorath, among a few others, was exceptionally helpful during the standoff with the goblins. I look forward to getting to know him; I think we could be good friends given the opportunity. Nonetheless, I still don’t know what to think of this recent attack, it seemed a bit too well planned to have been created by goblins. The inefficiency of their raid was not unlike goblins, why would they get themselves all riled up and attack knowing all along they’d fail? I think I’ll look into this a little deeper after a good night’s rest, perhaps Sheriff Viskalai can shed some light on the matter... Sandpoint may be at risk of future shenanigans or worse. Let’s hope this is an isolated incident."
